Graphic Design & Digital Artwork

I don't approach graphic design as simply making something look good. The best visual work has a job to do—it should communicate an idea, attract attention, establish a brand, promote an event, or help people understand something quickly.

My design work combines visual communication, technology, typography, composition, and storytelling to create graphics that are both visually engaging and useful.

Design With a Purpose

From a single promotional graphic to a complete collection of materials, I enjoy taking an idea and turning it into something people can see, understand, and remember.

Some projects begin with a finished concept. Others begin with a conversation, a rough idea, a collection of information, or simply the words, "I know what I want to say, but I'm not sure what it should look like."

That's where design becomes problem-solving. I look at the message, the audience, the environment where the design will be used, and the action the viewer should take—and then build the visual around those needs.

Prototypes, Book Covers & Brand Mockups

Sometimes the best way to communicate an idea is to show people what it could become.

These projects explore book covers, product concepts, digital mockups, and branded materials designed to give an idea a tangible visual identity. Whether I'm developing a concept from scratch or helping someone visualize an existing idea, I focus on creating a presentation that makes the concept easier to understand and easier to imagine in the real world.

Print Flyers & Event Collateral

Good event graphics have a job to do: get attention and communicate the important information quickly.

I create promotional graphics for conferences, workshops, campus events, campaigns, and special programs. My approach balances hierarchy, imagery, typography, and information so the viewer can understand the message without having to work for it.

Logos & Brand Graphics

A logo is often the first visual impression someone has of an organization.

I approach logo and brand graphics with an emphasis on clarity, recognition, flexibility, and purpose. The goal isn't simply to create an attractive mark, but to create something that can work across different environments—from digital graphics and social media to printed materials and promotional pieces.

Children's Book Spot Illustrations

Illustration gives communication another dimension.

These spot illustrations were created to support children's storytelling by adding visual moments that complement the written narrative. I enjoy this type of work because it allows design, illustration, imagination, and storytelling to work together.

Fun fact: While attending art school, one of my class projects was to create a series of spot-color illustrations built around a common theme. For the imagery, I drew inspiration from the second verse of Seattle by Mary Mary, using the lyrics as a creative starting point for the artwork.

It was a fun project because it gave me the opportunity to translate music and lyrics into visual storytelling—connecting two of my creative passions: art and music.

What I Bring to a Design Project

My background isn't limited to graphic design. I also work in music production, web development, digital media, accessibility, training, and technology. That broader experience influences the way I approach visual projects.

I think about how a design will actually be used—not just how it looks in the design file.

Audience

Who needs to see it, and what do they need to understand?

Message

Does the visual hierarchy make the important information clear?

Environment

Will it work on a phone, computer, social platform, presentation, or printed page?

Consistency

Can the concept grow into additional graphics and materials when the project expands?

Design for Real-World Use

Some projects begin with a blank page. Others begin with a client saying, "I have an idea, but I don't know exactly what it should look like."

That's where I enjoy working. I can take an existing concept, rough idea, written information, event details, brand direction, or visual reference and develop it into a polished piece of communication.

If you have an idea that needs a visual identity, let's talk about it.
