Elizabeth River Project Advances NSU to Model Level
“We’re really, really proud to be a River Star Business. We’re really honored to be recognized at Model Level this year,” said Norfolk State Associate Professor of Biology Dr. Ashley Haines. “It’s a great way to reward the students, the faculty, the staff, the administrators who have all played their part and are looking forward to where that might go in the future, particularly as Norfolk State works towards a new environmental justice initiative.”
First Ellen, Then on to Norfolk State to Realize Her Dream
You might have seen her on the Ellen DeGeneres show Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, when Ellen surprised Rickkita Taylor with overwhelming support of the Virginia Beach woman’s nonprofit organization called Sisters Healing Sisters. At that time, Taylor herself had been furloughed from her job since March and, like many, was struggling financially through the pandemic.
NSU Aluma Named Teacher of the Year, Twice
Norfolk State alumna Eboni Harrison, class of 2015, started teaching 5th-grade math at a North Carolina charter school right out of college. And, in her words, “everything that could go wrong did.”
NSU Grad Donates Organ to Fellow Alumnus
Two Norfolk State University grads who formed a “brotherhood” when they were college roommates nearly 30 years ago shared their love for each other in a different type of way this Valentine’s Day — a living donor organ transplant that will help save one of their lives. It was also National Donor Day.
Where are they Now?
